WHY REGULAR TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY
All hair follicles go through periods of dormancy and growth. As laser light only affects hair follicles that are actively producing hair at the time of treatment, resting follicles must enter the growth phase before they can be effectively treated. For this reason, treatment must be repeated until all hair follicles have passed through the growing phase. Clinical studies indicate that typically 6 – 8 treatments are needed at intervals of between 4 – 6 weeks.
- During the active growth phase called anagen, the hair contains an abundance of melanin. This is the ideal stage for laser hair removal.
- During the regression phase called catagen, the hair stops growing (transition to the dormant or resting stage) but is not shed yet and contains a certain amount of melanin.
- During the resting phase called telegen (full resting to shedding stage) the old hair falls out in preparation for the growth of new hair.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL PRE-CARE
Laser Hair Removal Pre-Care
To ensure safe treatment and the best possible results, please follow the guidance below before your laser appointment.
• Shave the area 24 hours before treatment (no waxing, sugaring, threading, or tweezing or depilatory creams, )
• Ensure skin is clean, dry, and free from makeup, deodorant, lotions, or perfume
• Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds, and fake tan for at least 2 weeks prior
• Do not use active skincare products (retinol, acids, vitamin A) on the area for 5–7 days before treatment
• Avoid heat treatments, saunas, and intense exercise 24 hours before Important:
• Inform your practitioner of any medical conditions, medications, or recent skin treatments
• Do not attend treatment if the skin is broken, irritated, or sunburnt Failure to follow pre-care instructions may result in treatment being postponed for safety reasons.
DURING THE TREATMENT
If you are a new client, a patch test may be performed , prior to the consultation.
A consultation with the goals you wish to achieve and settign expectations, as well as assessing your skin Fitzpatrick typing.
Your provider will check that you have followed the Pre treatment guidelines prior to commencing treatments.
Photographs may be taken of the area being treated for your client records only. this will show the density of your hair and subsequent results as treatment progresses.
During the treatment the treated are may become slightly red or the hair folicles may appear re and puffy. This is a normal reaction, and will subside quickly.
If you find the treatment too warm, please advise your provider and they will add extra cooling support for you.
RESULTS
Most clients will obtain a progresive reduction in the size and number of hairs with each treatment resulting in 90-95% reduction.
A small percentage of clients may have non responding hair follicles that still show significant growth
Please note that upper lip, chin, neck and sideburn are areas regulated or stimulated by hormonal activity, which stimulated the follicles.
you may experience continued hair growth and/or new hair growth in these areas, (hormone levels dependant and can be discussed in your consults, )
LASER HAIR REMOVAL AFTERCARE
Laser Hair Removal Aftercare
• Mild redness or warmth is normal and usually settles within a few hours
• Keep the area clean, dry, and moisturised
• Avoid hot showers, baths, saunas, swimming, and exercise for 24–48 hours
• Wear loose clothing to prevent irritation Sun care:
• Avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks
• Apply SPF 30–50 daily to treated areas
• No sunbeds or fake tan before or after treatment Skincare:
• Avoid exfoliation, scrubs, retinol, acids, and perfumed products for 5–7 days
Hair removal:
• Shaving only between sessions
• Do not wax, thread, or tweeze
Hair shedding may occur 7–14 days post-treatment — this is normal.
